Also known as Retinol, Vitamin A is found in foods such as fish oils and dairy products. Besides these animal products, Vitamin A (called Beta-carotene in plants) is found in orange and yellow fruits and vegetables, such as yams, carrots, and apricots.
High quantities of Vitamin A are also contained in various green vegetables, such as spinach and parsley.
Accutane Results
Clinical studies have shown that Vitamin A is a key ingredient in the effective treatment of acne. However, it’s important not to use tremendously high amounts of Vitamin A to treat acne. That’s because doses that are too high could become toxic for the person being treated.
Let’s get back to Accutane. This treatment is actually the most common one for treating those with major acne problems. While Accutane can be effective, usually it’s not the first option for physicians. That’s because Accutane can produce major adverse accutane results, including severe ones for pregnant women.
What Are Accutane Results?
The birth of Accutane is actually quite fascinating. Researchers observed that some patients, who were required to take high amounts of Vitamin A, had fewer problems with their acne. This was particularly true when the origin of the Vitamin A was from the livers of animals, rather than from plant sources. Different from other acne medications, Accutane attacks the root of the problem. While other medications only suppress the acne, Accutane’s objective is to eliminate the cause of acne.
Accutane became a popular treatment for major acne problems, discovered due to the various side effects resulting from treatments containing high volumes of Vitamin A. In contrast, Accutane produced fewer side effects, however, Researchers have discovered that Accutane can produce powerful unwanted side-effects of its own. They learned that Accutane could cause pregnant women to suffer from birth defects. Also, it’s advisable that sexually-active women who aren’t using any type of birth control, should also refrain from using Accutane.
Besides the unwanted accutane results experienced by pregnant women, clinical studies indicate that Accutane can also result in other types of side-effects. These include:
• dry skin
• sensitivity to sunlight
• mood swings
• increased acne (in the first stages of treatment)
• depression
• decreased night vision
• cataracts
• higher glucose levels
It should be noted that some of the adverse accutane results are more common than others. In fact, several of them occur quite rarely. Nonetheless, it’s important to weigh the benefits and drawbacks (possible side-effectives) of Accutane, before determining whether or not it’s right for you.
You should certainly discuss this issue with a professional dermatologist before deciding to choose Accutane or another treatment for severe acne. He or she will have the knowledge and experience necessarily for helping you to make the best decision.
Does Accutane work? In cases of severe acne, it’s the most powerful and effective medication available. However, because it can also produce various unwanted side-effects, it’s important to weigh the pros and cons of accutane results, before choosing it.
